It has been revealed that a second season, "Kaguya Arc," of the new TV anime series "Shin Samurai Den YAIBA," based on the manga "YAIBA" by Gosho Aoyama , known for works such as " Detective Conan ," will be produced. The 24th episode, the final episode of the first season, aired on September 27th, saw a giant ship suddenly appear in the sky, revealing Kaguya, the ruler of the moon who is said to have awakened from a thousand-year slumber. The second season will depict a three-way battle between Blade, who resolves to become the greatest samurai in the world in order to save Japan from Kaguya, and Onimaru, who plots world domination.
A visual announcing the second season, drawn by character designer and animation director Yoshitomo Kameda, has also been released. It depicts Yaiba wielding the Raijin Sword, Kaguya sporting a seductive smile, and Onimaru glaring sharply. A trailer announcing the second season has also been released, featuring Kaguya, Yaiba, Onimaru, Sayaka and Musashi riding Shonosuke, and Kaguya's aide Tsukikage.
It was also announced that Ami Koshimizu will play Kaguya and Uchiyama Koki Uchiyama will play Tsukikage, with Koshimizu commenting, "I'm happy to be able to be involved in a work that I watched as a child, but at the same time I feel a lot of pressure. Kaguya was a very scary character to me back then, and I vividly remember the scene where the girl turns into an old woman. I wonder if I'm even capable of acting in a way that has such a wonderful impact...I think it'll be a struggle, but I'll do my best!"

"YAIBA" is a swordplay action manga that Aoyama serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) from 1988 to 1993, before the serialization of "Detective Conan" began. It depicts the exploits of Yaiba Kurogane, an unconventional young swordsman who trains in the jungle with his father. After a series of unexpected events, YAIBA returns to Japan and makes great strides in his quest for even greater strength in a new training ground. A total of 24 volumes of the manga have been released, with a total circulation of approximately 17 million copies.
The new anime will be fully supervised by the original author, Aoyama, and will be fully animated approximately 30 years after the series' completion. Following on from the TV anime "Yaiba: The Legend of the Brave Sword" which aired from 1993 to 1994, Minami Takayama will play the main character, Yaiba. The series will be produced by WIT STUDIO, known for "Attack on Titan " and "SPY x FAMILY."
The first season of the TV anime began airing on April 5th on the Yomiuri TV/Nippon TV network. It is broadcast every Saturday at 5:30 pm on the network, and has become a hot topic as it has created a Saturday evening " Gosho Aoyama Hour" along with " Detective Conan ," which is broadcast every Saturday at 6 pm.
