Aya Ueto, husband HIRO's child-rearing: "He's changing more diapers than me right now"

Actress Aya Ueto appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which aired on September 24th. She spoke about her daily life with her three children and the household life of her husband, HIRO, from the dance and vocal group "EXILE."

Ueto is a mother of a 10-year-old girl, a 6-year-old boy, and a 2-year-old boy. She is the youngest of three siblings. Because both her parents worked, she had lonely memories, and thought, "I want to take care of everything (for my children) myself."

She revealed, "My children started saying things like, 'Mom, work more,' and 'Why aren't you on TV more?' I started to think, 'What? Is it okay for me to work?' and gradually changed my work style." When Ueto comes home after putting on makeup for work, her children's eyes sparkle and they say with delight, "You're wearing makeup today."

When asked by Tetsuko, "Is HIRO cooperative in raising children?" Ueto replied, "He's extremely cooperative." She revealed how HIRO is, saying, "When our eldest daughter was born, he was afraid to even hold her. Now he probably changes more diapers than I do, and he takes all three of them to the park. It's amazing that he can see all three of them at once. I'm grateful."

HIRO sometimes makes breakfast for her. "He's really cooperative and helpful. While I'm spending time with the kids, my husband is in the kitchen making breakfast," she said with a smile. Ueto described HIRO as her "greatest ally," and expressed her gratitude, saying, "He always pushes me forward, so it's really helpful."
