The new "Capsule Toy" TV commercial for McDonald's "Set 500" featuring actress Mikako Tabe was released on September 19th. It will be broadcast nationwide from September 23rd.
This is the second commercial for "Set 500," a value set of five types of products that can be enjoyed easily for around 500 yen. Following the "Batting Center" version that aired in May, Tabe was used in the commercial.
Tabe, who is enjoying the capsule toys, puts in a 500 yen coin and turns the handle, hoping to get the figure she wants, but no matter how many times she tries, the same figure comes out, and she looks disappointed.
Just as he was about to put in his last coin, hoping that next time he might find the figure he was looking for, he remembered the existence of "Set 500" and headed straight to McDonald's. The story is about enjoying "Set 500". As Tabe is enjoying "Set 500", a cute girl appears in front of him and gives him the figure as a present, which is a heartwarming twist.
Tabe says that when she was a child, she would buy capsule toys from a local candy store when she got her pocket money. She seems to have grown fond of the unique figures used in the shoot, which have a "mismatched" feel to them but are somehow charming, and after seeing them over and over again, she murmured, "They might actually be cute..."
In reference to the "Set 500," when asked what she felt was "value beyond its price," Tabe, who loves electric assist bicycles, answered, "My bicycle." She enthusiastically explained, "I bought it thinking, 'Will I ride it that much?' But I ride my bicycle almost every day to go wherever I go, so it's a good deal, and I'm glad I bought it. I've discovered lots of stores that I hadn't noticed before, like children's stationery stores, so I stop here and there to look inside (laughs). That's how I enjoy cycling."
