Kana Kita makes her first appearance in the Asadora " Bakebake "

It has been announced that actress Kana Kita will be appearing in the NHK morning drama series " Bakebake, " starring Akari Takaishi , which will begin airing on September 29th in the second half of 2025. This will be Kita's first time appearing in a Asadora. She will play Eto Rio, the daughter of Shimane Prefecture Governor Eto (played by Shiro Sano).

Eto Rio is a beautiful and intelligent young lady who is fluent in English and is deeply attracted to Heaven (Tommy Bastow) who visits Matsue.

Kita said, "I had always wanted to appear in a Asadora, so I was very happy when I was cast. I also felt nervous, as if I had taken another new step. For this role, I thought it was important to have someone who is likable to others and who can let go, so I carefully discussed the balance with the director and created it. Above all, I was grateful that the lead actress, Akari Takaishi, accepted everything about me. I am having fun acting in a great environment. I will do my best to be a good spice to the work. Production manager Hashizume Kuniomi commented, "Riyo, the governor's daughter, is a very difficult role, but Kana Kita embodied it beautifully. Her performance conveys all of that: the elegance of a woman at the forefront of the Meiji era, her reckless determination, and the occasional glimpses of cuteness. There are many lines in English, so I asked her to take on that challenge as well."

"Bakebake " tells the story of a couple who, together with her foreign husband, love ghost stories and shed light on the "nameless people" who had been forgotten in Meiji-era Japan as it became increasingly Westernized, and who acted as spokespeople for them. Takaishi, who stars in the film, plays the heroine, Toki Matsuno , the daughter of a fallen samurai from Yakumo Koizumi, modeled after Lafcadio Hearn 's wife, Setsu. The script is written by Fujiki Mitsuhiko, who has worked on NHK's "Asagaya Sisters' Laid-Back Life" and WOWOW's "Shooting Break Series," among others.
