It has been announced that a special documentary program about the rock band Kai Band, "Kai Band Documentary: 50th Anniversary of Kai Band Theory," will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW on October 19th. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of their debut last November, WOWOW has been running a series of special programs on Kai Band for a year, starting from that month.
The program will follow the Kai Band on their nationwide tour, portraying the band as they continue to evolve. It will also feature interviews with Kai, drummer Hideo Matsufuji, and guitarist Ichiro Tanaka, weaving together stories from legendary live shows, including the pioneering outdoor concert "1 Million Dollar Night in Hakone" in 1980, the "Hanazono Rugby Stadium Live" in 1981, "THE BIG GIG" at Shinjuku's Toyosu No. 5 Site (now the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building) in 1983, and the outdoor concert "Absolute Yakushiji Live" at a World Heritage Site in 2012.
In addition, commentary by music critics will be added, and "Kai Band Theory" will be introduced in which experts from various fields, including manga artists and actors, speak "straightforward, passionate, and serious" about the Kai Band, unraveling the story of the Kai Band's 50th anniversary from various angles.
"Kai Band Documentary - 50th Anniversary of Kai Band Theory" will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand from 6:00 PM on October 19th.
