Yokoyama Yu will continue to play his role in the drama "Absolute Zero"

It has been revealed that Yokoyama Yu from "SUPER EIGHT" will be appearing in the Getsuku drama "Absolute Zero: Information Crime Emergency Investigation" (Fuji TV, Mondays at 9pm), starring Sawaguchi Yasuko. Yokoyama appeared in seasons 2 to 4 of "Absolute Zero" and will be continuing his role in this fifth season.

The "Absolute Zero" series has aired seasons 1 (2010) and 2 (2011) starring Aya Ueto, season 3 (2018) starring Kazuki Sawamura, and season 4 (2020), and this is season 5.

The new series is set in the "Special Information Crime Unit" (commonly known as DICT), an investigative agency that pursues perpetrators of "information crimes" that abuse advanced information technology and threaten the lives and property of citizens. They tackle a variety of information crimes, from those affecting people's everyday lives to large-scale crimes that threaten national security, such as "special frauds" and "cyberterrorism," typified by anonymous, mobile crimes (commonly known as "tokuryu").

Yokoyama plays Yamauchi Toru, a former member of the MiHAN (Preventive Crime Investigation Team) who is transferred to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigative Division and becomes a member of DICT. After gaining experience in top-secret investigations at MiHAN, he successfully solved several violent crimes at the First Investigative Division. His calm judgment and sharp intuition were highly praised by his superiors. Just as in his time at MiHAN, he will be at the forefront of investigations at the newly established DICT, which is focused on results. Ninomiya (Sawaguchi), a community-based detective who joined DICT from the Public Safety Division, and Yamauchi, who was in charge of violent crimes at the First Investigative Division, are completely different in age, background, and personality, but despite their sometimes confusing interactions, they understand each other and eventually build a unique relationship of trust...

My honest reaction (when I received the offer for this film) was, "They're doing it again!" (laughs). I was happy. I've appeared in "Absolute Zero" starring Ueto Aya and Sawamura Kazuki, and this time Sawaguchi is in the lead role, so I think it's a new and reborn "Absolute Zero."

I have been playing the role of Yamauchi Toru since the previous work, and the character of Yamauchi is firmly in my mind, so I would like to play that role without wavering. On top of that, I am looking forward to seeing what kind of chemistry will occur with the new cast members, and I hope everyone will look forward to seeing what role Yamauchi will take on in the new organization.

This will be my first time acting with Sawaguchi-san, but he is a very gentle person. It seems he has seen the variety shows I appear in, and I am grateful that he has been so proactive in communicating with me. I'm sure there are many fans of "Absolute Zero," and a new "Absolute Zero" will be reborn and appear before you all. I am looking forward to it myself, and with a cast of actors playing unique characters, I'm sure it will be a fun production. I hope you will all watch it.
