"The Legend of Hei 2: The Future We Want" official trailer and visuals released

The official trailer and Japanese version visual for the new film "The Legend of Hei 2: The Future We Want," based on the popular Chinese animated film "The Legend of Hei," have been released. The trailer depicts the black cat fairy Xiaohei setting out on an adventure with his senior disciple, Ruye, in search of the truth behind his master Mugen, who has been accused of an attack on a certain hall.

Additional cast members announced for the Japanese dub include Aoi Yuki as the senior disciple Ruye, Yohei Tadano as Yudie, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Lingyao, Akira Ishida as Shimousu, Junichi Suwabe Akira Ishida as Qinen, Junya Enoki as A, and Shinba Tsuchiya as B. In addition to Kana Hanazawa as Xiaohei and Mamoru Miyano as Mugen, Inori Minase as Nata, Cho as Grandpa Kyu, and Yoshitada Otsuka as Panjin will be reprising their roles from the previous film.

It was also announced that singer Aimer will be performing the Japanese theme song, "Little Bouquet." Aimer will also be performing the theme song for the Japanese dubbed version of the web anime series, which will be broadcast as a TV anime starting in October.

Aimer commented, "I myself became completely absorbed in the world of The Legend of Hei, from the anime to the movie, along with Xiaohei. I am honored to be in charge of the theme song. I hope you will take this opportunity to follow Xiaohei's adventures, who is more than just cute."

The new film is set two years after the events of the previous one. Xiaohei was living a peaceful life in a small village with his master Mugen, but an attack on a certain hall threatens the long-standing peace of the fairy world. As they face one threat after another, Xiaohei sets out on a new adventure in search of the truth with his senior disciple, Ruye... This is the story. The Japanese dubbed and subtitled versions will be released simultaneously on November 7th.

"The Legend of Hei" is produced by Chinese animator and animation director MTJJ and Hanmu Chunhua (HMCH) Studio. The web anime series was released on a video site in March 2011 and gained popularity, followed by a theatrical release. The theatrical version was a hit, grossing approximately 315 million yuan (approximately 4.9 billion yen) at the box office in China.

A subtitled version was released in Japan in September 2019, and a Japanese dubbed version was released in November 2020. The dubbed version had a long run of screenings lasting about six months, and grossed over 520 million yen.
