"Chihayafuru -Meguri-" viewers are surprised by the ring on Mone Kamishiraishi

The final episode of the drama series "Chihayafuru: Meguri" (NTV, Wednesdays at 10pm), starring actress Ami Touma, aired on September 10th. At the end of the episode, Kanade (played by Mone Kamishiraishi) was shown wearing a ring on her left ring finger, which caused a stir on social media.

In the final episode, Meguru (Touma) and the rest of the Umezono Karuta Club face off against the champion Mizusawa in the final qualifying round to advance to the national tournament. Kanade is the caller. And then, the match finally begins. Umezono and Mizusawa, Meguru and Nagi (Nanoka Hara) face off against each other. Kanade's introductory song echoes throughout the venue, and Mizusawa alumni Chihaya (Suzu Hirose), Taichi (Nomura Shuhei), Nishida (Yamoto Yuma), Sumire (Yuki Mio) and other members of the Mizusawa team are captivated by her beautiful voice in the audience.

The match was a back-and-forth battle with neither side giving in. Chieri (Arashi Rina) and Yakumo (Sakamoto Aito) lost, pushing Umezono to the brink, but Meguru and Mizusawa's ace Kenshin (Fujiwara Daisuke) faced off against Fuki (Jun Saito) and Sota (Soma Santoki), who showed a furious comeback, and finally it was a fateful match between the three pairs. Meanwhile, Sota won one game, and Meguru began practicing the signal that the Umezono members had decided on to attack the enemy camp. Then the cards were called, but Meguru and Fuki's hands were just a little short of the cards, and the match ended with Nagi and Kenshin winning, and Mizusawa finishing with four wins... and so it went.

The story then follows Meguru and the others as they graduate from high school and become university students. In the spring of 2026, Meguru takes part in the team competition of the "Sakuyakonohana Spring Cup" karuta tournament on the same team as Nagi and Chieri. Sitting up front as their opponents is the team of Fuki, Kenshin, and Sota. The caller is Kanade, who wears a ring on her left ring finger given to her by Komano (Morinaga Yuki), also known as "Desk-kun," an alumnus of Mizusawa High School.

In episode 6, Komano was shown unable to give his ring to Kanade, who he was dating, which caused a buzz on social media about Kanade's ring. Comments included, "The ring! Tsukue-kun did a great job!", "What, did they quietly get married?", "Oh my, Kana-chan is wearing a ring," "The ring! He's proposing!", and "I screamed so much!"
