"Puella Magi Madoka Magica" is an original anime that depicts magical girls burdened with harsh destinies, and was broadcast as a TV anime in 2011. It was directed by Akiyuki Shinbo and produced by Shaft. It brought together a stellar staff, including Ume Aoki as the original character designer, Gen Urobuchi as the scriptwriter, and Yuki Kajiura as the composer of the music.
