The first film in the popular "Galileo" series, "The Devotion of Suspect X" (directed by Nishitani Hiroshi, released in 2008), starring singer and actor Fukuyama Masaharu, will be broadcast on Fuji TV's "Saturday Premium" slot (Saturdays at 9pm) on September 13th. This will be the first of three films in the "Galileo" film series to be broadcast at once.
"Galileo" is a popular mystery series based on the best-selling novel by Higashino Keigo, in which the brilliantly intellected physicist Yukawa Manabu (Fukuyama) brilliantly solves mysterious unsolved cases through scientific investigation and deduction. The first series aired as a TV series in October 2007. The film version, "The Devotion of Suspect X," was released in 2008. The second series aired as a TV series in April 2013, and the second film, "Midsummer Equation," was released in the same year, and the third film, "Silent Parade," was released in 2022.
In "The Devotion of Suspect X," the body of a man is discovered with his face crushed and his fingers burned. The cause of death is strangulation. The man's identity is revealed to be that of unemployed Togashi Shinji (Nagatsuka Keishi). Detective Utsumi Kaoru (Ko Shibasaki Kou) of Kaizukakita Police Station begins an investigation and confirms the alibi of Togashi's ex-wife, Hanaoka Yasuko (Matsuyuki Yasuko), but learns that Yasuko's neighbor is also a graduate of Teito University, along with Associate Professor Yukawa Manabu (Fukuyama).
His neighbor, Tetsuya Ishigami (played by Shinichi Tsutsumi), is a high school math teacher. Yukawa describes him as "a true genius, as far as I know." When Utsumi consults Yukawa about the case, Yukawa deduces that his "best friend," the only person he ever had a mutual understanding with, may be behind the incident...
"Saturday Premium" will broadcast "Silent Parade" (released in 2022) on September 20th and "Midsummer Equation" (released in 2013) on October 4th.
