The latest 26th volume of Yasuo Ohtagaki's manga Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt was released on August 29th. The series will conclude with the September 26th issue of the serialized magazine Big Comic Superior (Shogakukan), with the 27th volume being the final volume of the comic.
The latest volume, volume 26, depicts the final battle between Io and Daryl. As Kara aims the Solar Ray at the moon, Anaheim Electronics, having given up on the Federation Army, counterattacks with the mass-produced Big Zam and declares the establishment of a new nation, the Titans. As the war situation becomes increasingly chaotic, Io narrowly escapes death after failing to destroy the Solar Ray's core, and makes it to the Big Zam controlled by Kara. Meanwhile, Daryl, badly injured after his Perfect Gundam is shot down, rushes to his beloved Kara to stop her from going out of control. A limited edition with a specially illustrated "Daryl BOOK" has also been released.
"Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt" is a manga by Otagaki, known for works such as "MOONLIGHT MILE," and began serialization in "Big Comic Superior" in 2012. It depicts the battle between the Earth Federation Forces and the Principality of Zeon in the Thunderbolt sector during the One Year War, as well as the battles between the Zeon remnants, the Federation, and the South Seas Alliance after the One Year War. It has gained popularity through being made into an anime and plastic model kit. The total number of copies of the comic published is over 5.5 million.
