Actor Eiichiro Funakoshi and influencer Marin Sakata, who loves Showa-era culture, host the BS12 TwellV program "Eiichiro Funakoshi's Showa Regeneration Factory" (Thursdays at 9 p.m.). On August 28th, they will broadcast a special feature filmed in Sakata's hometown of Osaka, titled "Reviving the Showa-era Osaka Expo / Showa-era spots in Osaka that we want to preserve for the Reiwa era."
The program looks back on "items that evoke memories of the Showa era," "places that evoke memories of the Showa era," and "people that evoke memories of the Showa era," and brings back memories of the good old Showa era.
Sakata will first visit the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, currently being held in Yumeshima. He will then move to the memorial hall of the legendary "Showa Osaka Expo," "EXPO '70." In a space filled with exhibits that convey the excitement of the time, he will feel as if he has traveled back in time 55 years.
In the second half of the program, Sakata introduces "Osaka's Top 3 Showa Era Spots," including a cabaret in Minami that he has visited several times, and a smart ball specialty store that is now hard to find. Furthermore, at the end of the program, a part of the project will be revealed as a follow-up report on the joint project between the monster movie "Gamera" and "Showa Regeneration Factory."
