" Sumikko Gurashi the Movie: The Kingdom of the Sky and the Two Girls" theme song by Kimura Kaela

It has been revealed that singer Kimura Kaela will be performing the theme song "Kimi no Kasa" for the fourth and latest animated film based on the popular character Sumikko Gurashi," Sumikko Gurashi: The Kingdom of the Sky and the Two Girls" (directed by Iwata Naomi, to be released on October 31st). The song is a newly written song, with lyrics by Kimura and music producer Tsutaya Yoshiyuki in charge of composition and arrangement. The official trailer using the theme song has been released on YouTube.

Kimura commented, "Each of the characters in Sumikko Gurashi has their own little complexes and worries, and they may be shy, lack confidence in themselves, or feel depressed when they compare themselves to others. But it is because they have friends by their side who accept them for who they are that they are able to move forward step by step. In this theme song, "Kimi no Kasa," I put the message, "It's okay to have weaknesses and doubts. With your friends together, you can overcome any feeling." I would be happy if this song inspires listeners to cherish "themselves just as they are," just like the Sumikkogurashi characters, and gives them a little courage."

The trailer shows the prince and the Sumikkogurashi working together in the Sky Kingdom. It also includes scenes of the Sumikkogurashi encountering monsters in the Sky Kingdom, as well as the appearance of "Ebifriedon," a combination of Tonkatsu and Ebifried's tail. At the end, the comical image of Tonkatsu and Ebifried's tail relaxing in the oil bath is also shown.

The main visual was also released, showing characters such as Tonkatsu and Fried Shrimp's Tail, the Prince and the Moon Child, a polar bear, a penguin?, a cat, and a lizard gathered in the Kingdom of the Sky.

The latest film is set in the Sky Kingdom, located above the clouds, where the prince of the Sky Kingdom comes to Sumikkogurashi's town to solve a serious water shortage, and a new story begins.

Iwata, who has worked on the animated film "Pingu in the City," will serve as director, and Takashi Tsunoda of the theater company "Europe Kikaku" will be writing the script, following the first and third films. Yoshihiko Inohara and Manami Hojo will be in charge of narration.

Sumikko Gurashi is a popular character series developed by San-X, known for such works as Tarepanda and Rilakkuma, since 2012. The first film, " Sumikko Gurashi the Movie: The Pop-Up Picture Book and the Secret Child" (directed by Mankyu), was released in 2019, the second, " Sumikko Gurashi the Movie: The Magical Child of a Blue Moonlit Night" (directed by Omori Takahiro), in 2021, and the third, " Sumikko Gurashi the Movie: The Mysterious Child of the Patchwork Factory" (directed by Sakuta Hazumu), in 2023. The series has proven popular, with cumulative audience numbers for the first three films exceeding 3 million.
