TOKYO MER ~Mobile Emergency Room~ Nankai Mission:Recommended summer movie: A newly formed team takes on the biggest mission in history. Watch them unite in a moving story.

The MANTAN editorial team has picked out some recommended films to enjoy in an air-conditioned theater during the summer holidays. We will introduce the theatrical version of "TOKYO MER - The Running Emergency Room - Nankai Mission" (directed by Aya Matsuki).

The film is a sequel to the 2023 feature film "TOKYO MER: Running Emergency Room," a TV drama starring Ryohei Suzuki. Nankai MER is established to travel around the islands in the sea between Kagoshima and Okinawa, and its chief doctor, Kitami (Suzuki), and nurse, Kuramae (Nanao), are seconded to the site. One day, a massive volcanic eruption occurs on a volcanic island, putting the lives of all 79 island residents in danger. The new MER members embark on the biggest mission in history to save all lives... This is the story. Nankai MER members are played by Yosuke Eguchi, Mahiro Takasugi, Meru Nukumi, and Emma Miyazawa.

"TOKYO MER: Running Emergency Room" is a full-scale medical drama about a new team of emergency medical professionals called "TOKYO MER," established by order of the Governor of Tokyo (played by Yuriko Ishida). The series aired on TBS's "Sunday Theater" slot (Sundays at 9:00 PM) in July 2021. The first film was released in April 2023 and was a hit, grossing approximately 4.53 billion yen.

The Nankai MER members were feeling awkward due to the lack of opportunities to deploy, but it is inspiring to see them come together to accomplish their mission of "protecting the lives of the islanders." Don't miss the sight of the reliable and grown-up TOKYO MER members, either.
