The order of performances for the new comedy award race "Double Impact: Manzai & Conte Two-Sword Style No. 1 Decisive Battle 2025" (Nippon TV/Yomiuri TV, July 21st, 7pm) has been decided. The first act to perform will be "Kamomentaru".
"Double Impact" was organized by Nippon Television and Yomiuri Television as a competition to determine the true "two-sword style comedian" by judging both manzai and comedy sketches. The total number of entries for this first competition was 2,875. Each perform two pieces, one manzai and one comedy sketch, and the winner is decided by the total points.
The format of the finals is that all finalists will perform two acts, one manzai and one comedy skit (time limit 4 minutes), in the 1st Impact (1st round) and the 2nd Impact (2nd round). They will choose whether to perform a manzai or a comedy skit first in the 1st Impact, and in the 2nd Impact they will perform their acts in order of lowest score in the 1st Impact. There is no final battle, and the five judges will each be assigned 100 points (maximum 500 points), and the winner will be determined by the total score of the two acts (maximum 1000 points).
The order of the material performances is decided by a "material order draft lottery." The method is similar to the professional baseball draft meeting, where each group writes their desired material order from 1 to 7 on a flip chart and all groups announce it at the same time. If there are no overlapping numbers, the order will be decided by that number. If there are overlaps, a lottery will be held to decide the order of the material.
This time, the seven groups that advanced to the finals were "Long Coat Daddy," "Stamina Pan," "Cellulite Spa," "Nanamagari," "Nippon no Shachou," "Kamomentaru," and "Cotton." In the first round of the draft, Stamina Pan, who did not have any overlapping numbers, were set at number 2, Nippon no Shachou at number 5, and Nanamagari at number 7. Cellulite Spa and Cotton competed for number 3, while Long Coat Daddy and Kamomentaru were in contention for number 6, and as a result of the lottery, Cotton won number 3 and Long Coat Daddy won number 6. In the second round of the draft, both Cellulite Spa and Kamomentaru wanted number 4, so a second lottery was held. As a result, Cellulite Spa won number 4 and Kamomentaru became number 1.
