The sixth season of the GeGeGe no Kitaro anime, based on the manga by the late Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe Shigeru Mizuki , will be broadcast on Fuji TV's Saturday Premium at 9:30 pm on July 12th. This will be the first time the series will be broadcast on terrestrial TV, and the full version will be shown uncut (the broadcast time may change due to the extension of the soccer broadcast).
" Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe" was released in November 2023 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mizuki's birth. This is the first time in about 15 years that a feature film version of "GeGeGe no Kitaro" has been released since " GeGeGe no Kitaro . Kitaro's father (formerly Medama Oyaji) and Mizuki are the main characters, and "the story of Kitaro's fathers" is told for the first time.
The film is directed by Go Koga, who has worked on "Digimon Universe: GeGeGe no Kitaro" and the fifth season of "GeGeGe no Kitaro" movie " GeGeGe no Kitaro: Japan Explodes!!," written by Hiroyuki Yoshino, who has worked on "Macross Frontier" and "World Trigger," and character design by Yatabe, who served as assistant director on "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time." In addition to Seki Toshihiko playing Kitaro's father and Hidenobu Kiuchi playing Mizuki, the film also features a star-studded cast including Miyuki Sawashiro , who played Kitaro in the sixth season of " GeGeGe no Kitaro ," and Nozawa Masako, who played Masako Nozawa.
It also won the Best Animation Award at the 47th Japan Academy Awards. A new version, which retakes and re-dubs 327 cuts, was released in October 2024.
