Actor Takumi Saito will be appearing on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 pm on July 8th.
Saito worked his way up in his 20s, then made a late breakthrough in his 30s. Now in his 40s, he is active not only as an actor but also as a creator, making films and running mobile cinemas in disaster-stricken areas. Influenced by his father, Saito has loved movies since he was a child, and had many opportunities to see Yasujiro Ozu's films. Saito said he was also fascinated by the acting of Ryu Chishu, a regular actor in Ozu's films, and hit it off with Kuroyanagi.
She took the COVID-19 pandemic as an opportunity to reassess her diet. She now cooks almost all of her meals for herself, using germinated enzyme brown rice, homemade miso, and pickled vegetables. She also sometimes brings homemade brown rice rice balls to filming locations. She grew up eating brown rice at home, and snacks include brown rice bread and dried sardines. She says that her childhood diet is still useful to her today.
