To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the TV anime series "Ouran High School Host Club," based on the popular romantic comedy manga by Bisco Hatori, new illustrations have been released. Character designer Kumiko Takahashi has created special illustrations of the main character, Haruhi Fujioka, and the members of the host club. The illustrations were unveiled at the Anime Expo 2025 event currently being held in Los Angeles, USA.
"Ouran High School Host Club" was serialized in "LaLa" (Hakusensha) from 2003 to 2010, and is a popular comic with a total circulation of over 14 million copies. Set in the private Ouran Academy high school where only celebrities attend, the story follows scholarship student Haruhi Fujioka, who one day wanders into the host club and ends up serving the female students as a male club member. The story depicts the interactions, friendships, and romance between Haruhi and the host club members.
The TV anime aired from April to September 2006. It was directed by Igarashi Takuya, who also worked on the "Ojamajo Doremi" series and "Bungo Stray Dogs," with series composition by Enokido Youji, who also worked on "Bungo Stray Dogs," and character design by Takahashi, who worked on "Cardcaptor Sakura" and "Snow White with the Red Hair." It was produced by Bones. The Maaya Sakamoto-studded voice cast also drew attention, with Mamoru Miyano Maaya playing Haruhi and Miyano Mamoru, Kenichi Suzumura Masaya, Suzumura Kenichi, Ayaka Saito, Saito Ayaka, and Kirii Daisuke playing the members of the Host Club.
