Additional cast members for the second season of the TV anime "SAKAMOTO DAYS," based on the popular manga by Suzuki Yuto currently being serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), have been announced, including Daiki Yamashita, M.A.O, Satoshi Hino, and Mamiko Noto. Yamashita will play Seba Mafuyu, who is extremely clean-freakish and always wears a mask, M.A.O will play Akao Akira, who is timid and unfamiliar with weapons but has great potential, Hino will play Kyo, a film director with passionate fans all over the world and a member of ORDER, and Noto will play Akao Rion, a cheerful and lively JCC classmate of Sakamoto and Nagumo.
The announcement was made at a preview screening of the second season held in Tokyo on June 15th. The second main promotional video, depicting the everyday and extraordinary lives of Sakamoto and friends going wild, was also released. It was also announced that the band "go! go! vanillas" will be performing the ending theme "Dandelion."
Yamashita commented, "He's so laid-back that there's a huge difference in attitude between him and the other characters, so sometimes you'd think, 'Huh?' He speaks at his own pace, to the point that you'd think we were in the same world. I think that's one of his charms, so please look forward to him appearing soon! The story is about Taro Sakamoto, a former legendary assassin who runs a shop after retiring, who fights against assassins with his friends to protect his peaceful daily life with his beloved family... The film is popular for its spectacular battle scenes featuring unique characters.
The anime is also attracting attention for its star-studded cast of voice actors, including Tomokazu Sugita as Sakamoto Taro, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Asakura Shin, a psychic who was Sakamoto's subordinate when he was an assassin and can read other people's minds, and Ayane Sakura, a former mafia member who now works at Sakamoto Shoten. The first season aired from January to March. The second season will be broadcast on TV Tokyo affiliates every Monday at midnight from July 14th.
