The August release of "HG 1/144 GFreD" (Bandai Spirits) as a new Gunpla (plastic model) product for the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" has been much talked about. The product's name had previously been kept secret as "HG Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX New Product D (tentative)", but it has now been announced that it is the GFreD (Gifred) of GQuuuuuuX Unit 2. Prior to the airing of the series, it was announced that "New Product A (tentative)", "New Product B (tentative)", "New Product C (tentative)", "New Product D (tentative)", and "New Product E (tentative)" would be released, and details of the five products whose names had been kept secret have now been revealed. However, there are still many "GQuuuuuuX" units that have yet to be made into 3D models...
◇ Announced Sayla-exclusive light cannon
Details of the "mysterious new products" have been announced in conjunction with the broadcast of the anime: "New Product A (tentative)" is the "HG 1/144 Sugai's Gelgoog (GQ)," "New Product B (tentative)" is the "HG 1/144 Bokata's Gelgoog (GQ)," "New Product C (tentative)" is the "HG 1/144 Exabe's Gyan (Hakuji equipped)," and "New Product E (tentative)" is the "HG 1/144 Gaia's/Ortega's Rick Dom (GQ)."
It has also been announced that Gunpla models of Zaku, Char's Zaku, and White Gundam will be released. At the 63rd Shizuoka Hobby Show held in May, the "HG 1/144 Sayla's Light Cannon" was announced, but details about this model are still unknown.
◇ Hambrabi and Psycho Gundam from "Z"
The 01 Gundam, a prototype variation of Gundam developed by the Earth Federation Forces, had a memorable battle scene with the White Gundam, so there are sure to be many fans looking forward to seeing it in three-dimensional form.
Hambrabi and Psycho Gundam, which also appeared in "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam", have been released as Gunpla models of the "Z" version, but since the design of "GQuuuuuuX" is different, I'm looking forward to seeing it in 3D. Hambrabi has the ability to transform, and Psycho Gundam has gimmicks such as purging its external armor, so I'd like to see it recreated as a Gunpla model.
◇What about Kikeroga, Big Zam, and the Rose of Sharon?
Kikeroga, the Principality of Zeon's Newtype-exclusive MA (Mobile Armor) used by Sharia Bull, has also excited fans with its transformation mechanism into an MS (Mobile Suit) form, and many are hoping for it to be made into a Gunpla model.
Some are wondering whether the giant Big Zam and the mysterious "Rose of Sharon" will be made into 3D figures. We look forward to future announcements.
