The 45th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Anpan " starring Mio Imada (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM and others) was broadcast on May 30th. Viewers were drawn to the unexpected behavior of "Yam-on-chan" Kusakichi ( Sadao Abe) at the end of the episode.
In episode 45, rumors spread that Asada Pan had rebelled against the Army by refusing to make hardtack. Kamaji (Kotaro Yoshida) begs Kusakichi, "Please bake hardtack for our family," and cries while kneeling down and saying, "I don't want honor. I don't want money. I feel sorry for Hatako and those kids." Kusakichi tells Kamaji why he doesn't want to bake hardtack.
The next day, the ingredients for making hardtack are delivered to the Asada house for some reason. The military police arrive and order them to make the hardtack immediately, leaving Kamaji and the others confused. Kusakichi appears and says, "I'll get started right away," and follows the instructions. He reads the paper with the manufacturing method written on it and mutters, "It's just like the old days..." Kamaji is confused and says, "Yam... I don't want to bake hardtack," but Kusakichi interrupts him and calls out to Hatako (Noriko Eguchi) and the others, "If you have time, can you help me?" and they successfully bake the hardtack.
Nobu (Imada), who rushed over, was surprised but thanked Kusakichi. Kusakichi said he didn't make it all by himself and told Hatako, "I'll make sure you learn more from now on. I have to bake other breads too, so I don't have time to make the hardtack. If I get any busier, I won't be able to go fishing. Please."
Early the next morning, Kusakichi leaves the Asada house. Nobu wakes up and tries to chase after Kusakichi, but Kamatsugu stops her. Kamatsugu tells the distraught Nobu, "Nobu, stop it. If you make him suffer any more...it's no good."
As the video showed Kusakichi's back as he left, comments such as "I've been crying since the morning," "Is Yamu-onchan leaving? We'll see him again, right?", "It's sad to see him walking away," "Where is he going? I'm lonely," "What did Yamu say to Kamajii?" and "I'm glad Kamajii was there to respect Yamu's wishes" were posted on social media.
