It has been revealed that the final performance of the national tour by rock band WANDS, which will be held at Tokyo Garden Theater (Koto-ku, Tokyo) on May 30th, will be exclusively broadcast and streamed on WOWOW on July 20th. It has also been announced that WANDS' past live performance footage and music videos (MVs) will be broadcast and streamed in August and September, making it a three-month consecutive special.
WANDS debuted in 1991. They had a string of million-selling hits, including "Motto Tsuyoku Dakishimetara" (If I Had Himeta Motto), "Ai wo Katashiyori Kissou" (Rather than Talking About Love), "Sekaijuu yori dare yori Kitto" (I'm Sure to Be More Than Anyone in the World), which they performed with Miho Nakayama, and "Sekai ga Owaru Made wa..." (Until the World Ends), the ending theme for the anime series "SLAM DUNK."
After some member changes, the band is currently operating as the 5th generation, with the longest active third vocalist, Daichi Uehara, and original members Hiroshi Shibasaki (guitar) and Shinya Kimura (keyboard). Their latest album, "TIME STEW," released on March 26, includes "Shooting Star," the ending theme for "Detective Conan," and "Audacious," the theme song for the special edition of the TV series "Detective Conan vs. Kaito Kid." To commemorate the release, they have been touring nine cities across Japan since April.
WOWOW will broadcast and stream the tour finale performance, titled "WANDS Live Tour 2025 ~TIME STEW~," on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand from 10 p.m. on July 20th.
In August, they will broadcast and stream "WANDS All Periods Live & Music Video History," which looks back on the history of WANDS from the first period to the current fifth period with live footage and music videos. In September, they will broadcast and stream "WANDS 5th Period Live & Music Video Collection," which focuses on the "5th period" that began in November 2019.
