It has been announced that the anime "Takopi's Original Sin," based on the manga by Taizan5, which was serialized in Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump +," will begin streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ABEMA and other video streaming services at midnight on June 28. It was also announced that the anime will have a total of six episodes.
Information on the theme songs was also announced, with ano performing the opening theme "Happy Lucky Chappy" and Kitaro Taniguchi's solo project "Tele" performing the ending theme "Garasu no Sen." The PV was released on YouTube, showcasing the songs.
Ano commented, "I had read the original manga and could empathize with the heavy, painful parts of the work, so when I was approached about the role, I struggled a lot about how to turn it into a song. I wrote about my time in middle school, when I felt like there was no color around me, and how that feeling is something I still find myself experiencing today. I would be happy if this song can provide some comfort to those who watch the anime, and to those who find it difficult to ask for help or express their honest feelings now. I am looking forward to seeing it myself."
Regarding "Tele," he said, "I can't help but identify with Taco Pi's character. In a way, music is like a happy tool. Every time I reread the manga, I want to tell him I understand. The pain of not understanding anything, but just wanting to save someone, wanting to be of help. Trying to hold the hand of someone you can't see is the hardest thing of all. That's why I wrote this song with the hope that people would be able to breathe peacefully, and I don't think this is just limited to Taco Pi's. All the characters in this work are gasping for air like a fish lacking oxygen. All I could do for them was write this song. I layered the sounds as if I was sending a letter to an old acquaintance. I'm very honored to have been involved in a work that makes me feel that way. Thank you so much."
The main visual was also released, depicting Tacopee, Shizuka, and their classmates Marina and Azuma. The visual shows the characters gathered in the park where the story is set, with ribbons drawn around them.
"Takopi's Original Sin" is Taizan5's debut serialization work, serialized in "Shonen Jump +" from December 2021 to March 2022. Despite being a short serialization, it gained popularity, recording the highest number of views among works serialized at the same time. The story is about Tacopi, a Happy Alien who comes to Earth and meets Shizuka, a girl who never smiles, and uses his Happy Gadgets, which have mysterious powers, to bring back Shizuka's smile. The story also became a hot topic for depicting the cruel reality of elementary school students, such as bullying and problems with parents, and was ranked third in the "This Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023" Men's Edition. Although the comic is only two volumes in total, the total number of copies published has exceeded 1.45 million.
