"Gamera: Guardian of the Universe" (1995), the first film in the "Heisei Trilogy" of the monster movie "Gamera" series, will be broadcast on BS12 TwellV from 7 p.m. on May 4th.
The film was directed by Kaneko Shusuke and stars Ihara Tsuyoshi, Nakayama Shinobu, Fujitani Fumiko, Hotaru Yukijiro, and Onodera Akira.
Around the time a huge drifting atoll was discovered in the Pacific Ocean, a mysterious human disappearance occurred on Himegami Island in Kyushu. After the disappearance was confirmed with the last radio message saying "A bird! A bird!..." Ornithologist Mayumi Nagamine visits the island to investigate, where she witnesses a gigantic, monstrous bird.
Meanwhile, Yonemori of the Japan Coast Guard and Kusanagi of the insurance company decipher the inscription on a stone tablet on the atoll. As a result, it turns out that the atoll is Gamera and the monster bird is Gyaos, an ancient monster... and so the story unfolds.
