The second episode of the TV drama "PJ ~Air Rescue Team~" starring Seiyo Uchino(TV Asahi, Thursdays 9pm) will be broadcast on May 1st.
At the Air Self-Defense Force Komaki Base Rescue Training Unit, students aiming to become pararescue jumpers (commonly known as PJs) for the Air Rescue Group continue to train under the supervision of Chief Instructor Usami (Uchino). Pushed both physically and mentally, the students continue to challenge their own limits.
Even Sayaka (played by Anna Ishii), who competed in the national swimming championships, struggles with the harsh training. During training that simulates a harsh rescue scene at sea, she is struck by her fear of water. Sayaka falls into a state of panic as she struggles desperately to recover...
After completing her training, her fellow cadet Sawai (Fuju Kamio) encourages her, but Sayaka cannot hide her irritation, saying, "Stop looking down on me just because I'm a woman."
The students are paired up to take on underwater first aid training, with Sawai and Sayaka paired up. Sawai tries to make compromises as Usami advises, "Act together on a daily basis and stay in sync," but Sayaka remains adamant.
Usami's daughter, Yuna (Yoshikawa Ai), who came to observe the training, witnesses her father's stern expression for the first time and the sight of the students training with raw emotion, trying to break through their limits.
The screenplay is an original by Izumi Takahashi. The story depicts trainees aiming to become PJs, or rescuers, of the Air Self-Defense Force's Air Rescue Wing, an elite rescue unit known as the "last stronghold" for saving lives, as they go through rigorous training under the strict and unconventional head instructor, Usami.
