Chihara Junior of the comedy duo "Chihara Kyodai" appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) broadcast on April 28th. The day after a location shoot where I walked and ran a little, I started to feel pain in my buttocks. A few months later, I started dragging my leg, and although I went to various hospitals and massage parlors, it didn't get any better. The pain was so bad I couldn't sleep. After a thorough examination, the doctor told me, "Junior, you have an incurable disease." When I was surprised and asked, "What, an incurable disease?" he replied, "Your femur has necrosis." Just thinking about the words "incurable disease" and "necrosis" scared me.
He was put on hold, but the pain worsened, and he continued to wake up every hour for nearly a year. He had an artificial hip joint inserted, and on the seventh day he went to work on crutches. He is now completely cured, and says with relief, "It's so smooth I don't even realize my joint is artificial. I'm relieved."

While he was hospitalized, he was unable to work. His company, Yoshimoto Kogyo, was a salary-based company, so his salary became 0 yen. The president at the time felt bad for him, so he instructed his manager to "transfer me at least a salary that will allow me to live for a month," and from then on, 30,000 yen was transferred to him every month. "What kind of life do you think I was living on 30,000 yen a month?" he recalled, commenting.
