The latest work in the "xxxHOLiC" series by the manga creation group "CLAMP", "xxxHOLiC: Rei", resumed serialization in the 21st issue of the serial magazine "Young Magazine" (Kodansha), released on April 21st. This is the first time the work has been published in about eight years, since March 2017. A new story about Watanuki Kimihiro and Ichihara Yuko has begun.
"xxxHOLiC" began serialization in "Young Magazine" in 2003. The story follows Watanuki Kimihiro, a psychic high school student with the ability to see ayakashi (ghosts), who meets Ichihara Yuuko, nicknamed the "Witch of Dimensions," and gets involved in strange events while working part-time as Yuuko's assistant. In 2009, the series was renamed "xxxHOLiC: Rou" and serialized until 2011. In 2013, it began serialization again as "xxxHOLiC: Rei."
It was also made into a TV anime, with the first season airing in 2006 and the second in 2008. The animated feature film "xxxHOLiC: A Midsummer Night's Dream" and the OVA "xxxHOLiC: Spring Dream Chronicles" were also produced. It was made into a TV drama on WOWOW in 2013, and a live-action film directed by Mika Ninagawa was produced in 2022.
