It has been revealed that Miharu Fukuchi will play the childhood role of Toki Matsuno, the heroine of the NHK Asadora drama "Bakebake ," starring Akari Takaishi , scheduled to start this fall in the second half of 2025. This will be Fukuchi's first appearance in a Asadora.
Fukuchi was born on March 31, 2015, and is 10 years old and from Osaka Prefecture. She played one of the roles of Anya in the 2023 musical "Musical SPY×FAMILY". This time, she was selected from 674 applicants in an audition to play the role of Toki, a young girl. Toki is the daughter of a fallen samurai from Matsue, and is modeled after Setsu, the wife of Lafcadio Yakumo Koizumi(Lafcadio Hearn). A photo of her and Takaishi, who plays the main character, filmed on location in Kyoto was also released.
"When I heard I passed the audition, I was so surprised that I kept asking, 'Really?!' The character I'm playing, Otoki, spends her days receiving lots of love from her father, mother and grandfather. I'm so excited to think that I'll be able to act with everyone! I look forward to ' Bakebake' every morning, and I'd be happy if it becomes a drama that makes me want to get out of bed. I'll do my best!"
Meanwhile, Hashizume Kuniomi, the production manager of "Bakebake," gave his stamp of approval, saying, "It's pure and natural, and Takaishi's acting makes me think that this is what she might have been like when she was little."
"Bakebake" is the story of a couple who love "ghost stories" together with their foreign husband, and who shed light on and speak for the "nameless people" who were forgotten in Meiji Japan as Westernization progressed. The script is written by Mitsuhiko Fujiki, who has worked on NHK's "Asagaya Sisters' Relaxed Life Together" and WOWOW's "Tokyu Series."
