It has been revealed that Kento Nakajima will be performing the opening theme "MONTAGE" for the TV anime "Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de," which is based on Atsuya Higashikawa's popular mystery novel that has also been adapted into a live-action film and a stage play. The announcement was made when the first episode of the anime aired on Fuji TV's anime slot "Noitamina" on April 4th. This is the first time that Nakajima will be performing a theme song for an anime as a solo artist.
The opening theme song "MONTAGE" was released only as an audio file, but the artist name and song title were kept secret, and the details were revealed in the form of a "mystery solved" in the first episode. The music for the opening theme was provided by Hiroyuki Sawano, and the lyrics were co-written by Nakajima and cAnON.
Nakajima commented, "I was a big fan of the live-action drama, so I feel dedicated to being involved in the anime version through music. I watched all the episodes of the anime, and wrote the lyrics with Kageyama's character in mind, who solves the mystery while also uttering polite, rude remarks in a tricky way. I named it 'MONTAGE' because the mystery begins to be solved by putting together fragmented photographs and evidence from the crime scene. And this is the first time that Hiroyuki Sawano has written a song for me. With his advice during the recording, I was able to absorb Sawano's sound and the worldview of the song into my body and express it vocally, which was a very valuable experience. I hope you look forward to both the anime and the song."
The opening video, which features the opening theme "MONTAGE," and the ending video, which features the ending theme "Rhapsody" by the band "BILLY BOO," have both been released without credit on YouTube.
"Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de" is set in Kunitachi, Tokyo, and is a full-scale mystery story about a butler detective and a young lady detective, in which Hosho Reiko, a rookie detective at Kunitachi Police Station but the daughter of the world-famous Hosho Group, encounters a case and is solved by Kageyama, Reiko's butler and driver, who has a sharp deductive ability and a sharp tongue. A drama series starring Sakurai Sho and Keiko Kitagawa was broadcast on Fuji TV from October to December 2011, and a movie was released in 2013. It has been adapted into a comic book, a stage play, and other media mix.
The anime will be directed by Mitsuyuki Masuhara, known for "Ace of Diamond" and "Shirokuma Cafe", and produced by Madhouse. Kana Hanazawa will play Reiko Hosho, Yuki Kaji will play Kageyama, and Mamoru Miyano will play Kyoichiro Kazamatsuri, a police inspector at the Kunitachi Police Station and Reiko's boss. It airs every Friday at 11:30 pm on Noitamina.
