It has been announced that actress Ai Yoshikawa will be appearing in the TV Asahi drama series "PJ ~Aviation Rescue Team~" (Thursdays at 9pm) which will begin on April 24th. She will play the daughter of Seiyo Uchino, the chief instructor of the rescue training team, played by Masaaki Uchino.
The drama is an original story that focuses on the Air Self-Defense Force Aviation Rescue Wing, commonly known as PJ (pararescue jumpers), who carry out rescue operations under harsh conditions during accidents and disasters. The story depicts trainees who passed the extremely difficult selection test to become PJ members facing the extremely harsh ``hellish'' training under the strict and unconventional chief instructor Usami.
Yoshikawa plays Nogi Yuuna, Usami's daughter. She is a fourth-year university student who lives with her mother after her parents divorce. She feels that her father is selfish, as he has devoted himself to his work without caring about his family, and she rebels against him. However, she has chosen the "Air Rescue Corps" as the topic of her graduation thesis, and comes to Komaki Air Base where her father is to observe the training.
The third cast was also announced, including Hamada Gaku, Mashima Hidekazu, Hasegawa Tomoharu, Takagishi Hiroyuki from the comedy duo "Timon D", Nomura Masumi, and Shishido Kai. Hamada plays Nishina Ren, a rescue worker who adores Usami, Mashima plays Oyama Junichi, a rescue worker who is strict with the trainees, Hasegawa plays Takioka Ken, a pilot of the U-125A rescue search aircraft who joined the force at the same time as Usami, Takagishi plays Nakabayashi Makoto, a rookie instructor, Nomura plays Morino Akari, a pilot of the UH-60J rescue helicopter, and Shishido plays Horikoshi Shoichi, the training unit leader.
