It has been revealed that Shohei Nagata of the comedy duo Chocolate Planet will be appearing as a voice actor in the movie version of "Me & Roboco and Roboco," an anime based on the popular comedy manga by Shuhei Miyazaki currently being serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha). In "Me & Roboco," Nagata's partner Shun Matsuo voices the main character Roboco, and the pair will be co-starring in the movie version.
Nagata plays one of the space pirates plotting to invade Bermuda, where Roboco and his friends live, and a high-ranking executive who stands in Roboco's way. His special move is a T-shaped beam that immobilizes his opponents. Nagata commented, "There's a lot of our material in the film, so I hope both our fans and those who aren't fans will enjoy it."
A video of Matsuo and Nagata recording was also released on YouTube. Apparently, it also includes a scene where they perform the popular "TT Brothers" skit, one of Chocolate Planet's most well-known comedy routines.
A stage greeting to commemorate the release of the film will be held at Marunouchi Piccadilly (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo) on April 19th. Chocolate Planet's Matsuo and Nagata, Bond voice actress Tsuda Minami, theme song singer Ano, and director Daichi Heitaro will be appearing on stage.
"Me & Roboco" began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in July 2020. Set in the year 20XX, when beautiful maid robots have become commonplace in every household, the story depicts the comical daily life of Roboco, a maid robot with unconventional behavior, and Bond, a kind-hearted boy. The comic has sold a total of approximately 1.5 million copies.
The TV anime aired from December 2022 to June 2023. The movie version will be directed by Heitaro Daichi, who is known for his work on anime such as "Ojarumaru" and "Sexy Command Gaiden: Sugoi yo!! Masaru-san" and is also known as a "master of comedy anime." It will be released on April 18th.
