The 48th Japan Academy Awards ceremony, a Japanese film festival, was held in Tokyo on March 14th, and Shintaro Morimoto of the popular group SixTONES, who won the Newcomer Actor Award for the movie "Seitai" (directed by Michihito Fujii), attended. "I'm very honored to receive this Newcomer Award, which can only be won once in a lifetime," he said with joy.
Morimoto said in his speech, "I am very happy to have been able to appear in the film 'Seitai,' but I was very scared and anxious during filming. But I would like to work hard so that I can return here proudly, thanks to the wonderful cast members including (Yokohama) Ryusei, who guided me to be able to stand here, and the wonderful staff including Director Fujii."
The Newcomer Actor Award is given to an actor who has made an impression by playing a major leading or supporting role, even if it is not their first film appearance. In "Seitai," Morimoto played Nonomura Kazuya, a day laborer and co-worker who the protagonist Kaburagi (Yokohama) befriends while on the run. He honestly portrayed the human element of Nonomura, who shows kindness and weakness even in his roughness, and the way he changes after meeting the protagonist, enhancing the appeal of the ensemble drama.
