It has been revealed that season 5 of the TV drama "Solo Active Girls' Recommendation" (TV Tokyo), starring actress Noriko Eguchi, will be broadcast in April. Titled "Solo Active Girls' Recommendation 5," it will be broadcast every Wednesday at 1:00 a.m. starting from April 2nd.
The drama is based on the essay "Solo Activity Girls' Recommendation" (Daiwa Shobo) by freelance writer Asai Mayumi. It depicts the protagonist Saotome Megumi (Eguchi), who is actively pursuing "solo activities" to enjoy time alone. It has been broadcast every April since 2021, and in season 3, it collaborated with regional cities such as Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture and Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, and in season 4, which aired last April, a Taiwan edition was produced as the first overseas solo activity. It has gained popularity both at home and abroad, including winning first place on Taiwan's domestic distribution platform Chunghwa Telecom.
Kinako Kobayashi will continue to play the role of Ayako Kuroda, who works at the Digest Publishing editorial department where Megumi works, Kento Shibuya will continue to play the role of Yohei Ishioka, and Haruka Sasaki will continue to play the role of Haruka Aoki. Voice actor Akio Otsuka will also continue to serve as the narrator.
In this Season 5, with the special cooperation of the Australian Tourism Board and the Victorian Tourism Board, the second overseas edition will feature a solo trip to Melbourne, Australia. In Melbourne, also known as the food capital, the participants will taste the world's best coffee and wine, enjoy nature, and immerse themselves in the history and culture of the Aboriginal people.

It's nice to be reunited with the familiar staff and fellow cast members, and I feel that the teamwork is improving with each passing season, and the sense of security is growing. I'm happy that filming for my solo activities has started again this year. Most of the office scenes are finished in a day or two, so every time I get a thick script, I worry about whether I'll really be able to memorize the lines by the day of filming. Then, once filming begins, each episode passes in the blink of an eye. It goes by so quickly that I wonder what time I was worrying about lines for 10 episodes. But it's kind of fun to get all flustered with everyone asking which scene is next. This time, influenced by Satsuki-san, Ayako-san, Yohei-kun, and Haruka seem to be thinking about various things. It's a bit moving to see how each of them changes.

Recently, when I go out alone, I can hear Megumi Satsuki's monologue in my head. "This has quite a nice taste... It's delicious," or "This quaint building... I can feel the history of the people," Eguchi Noriko's voice mutters. Satsuki is good at finding the good in everything and people, so the monologue that flows through my head is almost always praising something. I'm grateful that I'm able to spend my time in a positive way thanks to her.
