An advance screening of the original anime "LAZARUS" by director Shinichiro Watanabe, known for the anime "Cowboy Bebop," was held on March 7th at Shinjuku Wald 9 (Shinjuku, Tokyo), with Mamoru Miyano, who plays the main character Axel, Makoto Furukawa, who plays Doug, and Yuma Uchida, who plays Leland, in attendance. Uchida co-stars with his older sister, voice actress Uchida Maaya, in the film, and revealed some behind-the-scenes stories from the recording session between the siblings.
During the recording, there was a scene where Yuuma and Maaya, who played Christine, were talking to each other. She revealed the episode, saying, "I was also quite nervous, and (the staff) told me, 'Both siblings are nervous in that scene.' I thought, 'Big sis, pull yourself together!' but I ended up tripping over my words too (laughs)."
Regarding the scene, Furukawa said, "I watched it thinking how wonderful it was that it conveyed the kind of atmosphere that can only be created between family members," and Miyano said, "I never thought I'd see a set like this, so I found myself grinning at Uchida and Uchida."
The story is about a team of agents from around the world, Lazarus, who are pursuing Dr. Skinner, a neuroscientist who developed a painkiller called "Hapuna" that causes death three years after taking it, in order to save humanity. Character design will be handled by Akemi Hayashi, known for "BANANA FISH," and the work will be produced by MAPPA.
In the anime, Miyano plays the main character Axel, who is imprisoned due to a certain incident but repeatedly escapes, and whose hobby is escaping from prison. Iwami Manaka, Manaka Iwami , Akio Otsuka , and Koichi Yamadera appear as voice actors. The series will be broadcast on TV Tokyo affiliates every Sunday at 11:45 pm from April 6th. There are 13 episodes in total.
