On March 2nd, it was announced that an audition for the role of the diva in the latest installment of the popular anime series "Macross" will be held, "Macross x Sunrise "New Macross" Super Dimensional Diva Audition 2025". It has been announced that the latest work will be produced by Sunrise (Bandai Namco Film Works). The audition theme song "Eye to Eye", with music by FlyingDog and Lantis (Bandai Namco Music Live), was unveiled. It was announced on the program "Macross x Sunrise New Work Big Announcement Special" streamed on ABEMA on March 2nd.
A special audition project, "I to Eye Cover," has also been launched, in which past divas and special guests will upload videos every week of themselves singing the audition songs. The first installment of this project is a "cover" video by Suzuki Minori, who passed the "Macross Delta" diva audition to play the heroine Freyja Wion, which was released on YouTube.
Eligibility to enter the audition is open to women aged 13 to 22 who live in Japan, and applications will be accepted until April 30. After a first round of online application screening and a second round of online screening, the final face-to-face screening will take place in late July.
The "Macross" series is a popular anime that began with "Super Dimension Fortress Macross" which aired in 1982. The series has continued to feature the Valkyrie robots, which can transform from a fighter jet form to a humanoid form in three stages, idols, songs that hold the key to the story, and love triangles.
