The 105th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Omusubi " starring actress Kanna Hashimoto (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM and others) was broadcast on February 28th. In the episode, the wake of heroine Yui's (Hashimoto) grandfather Nagayoshi (Matsudaira Ken) was held, and it was revealed that the heroic tales Nagayoshi told before his death were not just tales. Matsudaira, who played Nagayoshi, commented on this development.
During his lifetime, Nagayoshi had said things like, "I gave advice to an enka singer who appeared on the Red and White Song Battle," and "I taught Ramos how to do a loop shot," but Yui and her family thought they were just lies. However, in the episode, at Nagayoshi's wake, one after another people came to the venue saying they had been helped by Nagayoshi in the past. Among them were enka singer Keisuke Yamauchi and former soccer player Rui Ramos... and so on.
Matsudaira commented, "I knew that the story about the World Expo was true, but at first I thought the other episodes were just fabrications. When I read the script I was happy to see that he really did it. It wasn't a curse, but I think he was a kind person who acted for others."
Regarding future developments, Nagayoshi sent a message saying, "My two grandsons have both become independent and are walking their own paths, so I hope that they do well. Yui initially started learning about nutrition for Shoya ( Hayato Sano), but it gradually moved towards medicine and her growth has been amazing. I hope that she will continue to work hard so that she can be of use to others."
"Omusubi" is a "Heisei youth graffiti" in which the heroine, born in 1989, connects people's hearts and futures as a nutritionist, with the "gal spirit" of valuing one's individuality at all times.
