TV Tokyo's popular information variety show "Apparition! Ad Town Heaven" (Saturday 9:00 pm) will feature Sakuragawa City, Ibaraki Prefecture, where scenery from the Edo period remains, on the February 22nd broadcast.
Sakuragawa City, at the foot of Mount Tsukuba, is home to the Makabe Traditional Buildings Preservation District, where traditional buildings from the late Edo period to the early Showa period stand side by side. There are 101 buildings that have been registered as national tangible cultural properties, and the area is known as a "miracle townscape." There are also famous mountain cherry blossom viewing spots in the surrounding area.
The program will introduce a Japanese inn that is a registered tangible cultural property where you can stay, a sake brewery that has been in business since the Edo period that sells "edible sweet sake," a soba restaurant that has been renovated from an old house, and more. In addition, there will be a huge box full of fried noodles, a hand-kneaded hamburger steak, a popular restaurant that is famous for its pork cutlet noodles and yakiniku set meals, and a direct sales store that sells mandarin orange peel shichimi and rich sweet tomatoes.
In addition, the film will cover the mining of "Makabe stone," which is also used in the State Guest House and Nihonbashi Bridge, and a "Japanese knife master" born in Paris. The trailer also shows the city celebrating Hinamatsuri.
The guests are actress Michiko Haneda and comedy duo Kaminari.
