It has been revealed that Tetsuhei Arita of the comedy duo "Cream Stew" will appear in the movie "Kakkaku Shikajika" (directed by Kazuaki Seki, to be released on May 16th) starring Mei Nagano. This will be the first time that Arita and Nagano have acted together in a film since the NHK morning drama "Hanbun, Aoi" (first half of 2018) seven years ago.
The main character of the movie is a lazy high school student, Akiko (Nagano), who dreams of becoming a manga artist but spends her days in a daze. As she strives to become a popular manga artist, she is hiding a record of her nine-year battle with her most fearsome art teacher, Mr. Hidaka (Oizumi Yo), as well as the cruel "lies" and "secrets" that she could not tell her teacher... This is the story.
Arita plays Nakata-sensei, the high school art club advisor who praises Akiko's drawings over and over again, in stark contrast to the strict Hidaka-sensei. Arita commented, "I've worked with Mei Nagano on variety shows, but this was my first time acting since NHK's ' Hanbun, Aoi' so I was very nervous, but it was a very enjoyable shoot. I also received dialect guidance, and learned a lot about the subtle differences in the nuances of the dialects used in Kumamoto, where I'm from, and Miyazaki."
The cast includes Mikami Ai as Kitami, a Shibuya-obsessed subcultural girl who invites Akiko to the Hidaka Art Class, Mei Hata as Sato, a junior at Akiko's art class, Suzuki Jin as Ima-chan, a delinquent who awakens to a talent for art, Kamio Fuju as Fuju Kamio, who becomes Akiko's destined love (?) whom she meets at the university she will be attending, Kenjiro Tsuda as Oka-san, the handsome editor at Shueisha who discovers Akiko's talent, Megumi as Akiko's mother, and Omori Nao as Akiko's doting father.
