It has been announced that an original anime titled "Ryūkeshō no Shinobi" (Dragon Makeup Ninja) will be produced by director Norihiro Naganuma, who has worked on anime such as "The Apothecary Diaries." The anime will be a glamorous and stylish battle action series that combines the motifs of "dinosaurs" and "ninjas," which are loved by people of all ages and nationalities, with the modern element of "makeup." Yoichi Amano, the manga artist of "AKABOSHI -Ibun Suikoden-," will be in charge of the character concept, and Yukiko Nakatani, who worked on "The Apothecary Diaries," will be in charge of character design, with Canon Code handling the production.
The story is set in Tokyo in 2029, where dinosaurs, once thought to have gone extinct due to a meteorite, have secretly preserved their DNA through interbreeding with humans, blended into human society, and are now living by preying on people. An organization secretly fights against the dinosaurs, using a special pigment called "Dragon Makeup" to enhance the dinosaurs' abilities and fight back. The story depicts a "ninja-style battle" between the dinosaurs, who bare their fangs and attack in an attempt to destroy humanity, and the underground organization that tries to stop them. It has also been announced that the manga will be serialized by Kodansha.
A project promotional video has been released depicting countless dinosaurs roaming the streets of Tokyo, ninjas using dinosaur abilities to fight, and approaching meteorites, as well as a concept visual showing a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a ninja confronting each other in modern-day Tokyo.
Director Naganuma commented, "It's a beautiful yet dark and captivating world that combines 'memory,' 'dinosaurs,' 'ninjas,' and 'makeup.' It's a one-of-a-kind work with mysteries, truths, and motives swirling around behind the story. Please look forward to it!"
Character designer Nakatani said, "I'm sure that children of all ages, from young kids to older kids, will find a character they love. Please take a look."
Character designer Amano commented, "It's a world packed with everything boys dream of! There's no way it won't be fun!!!"
