Enon Kawatani, a musician known as the vocalist of the rock band Gesu no Kiwami Otome, appeared in the studio for the fourth episode of the TV Asahi drama series "Boku no Azatoi Motokano" (Fridays at 11:15pm, excluding some regions), which aired on February 14th. He talked about an unforgettable episode with his ex-girlfriend.
The drama is a new attempt in which the MCs of the popular variety show "What's Wrong with Being Azatokute?", Ryota Yamazato and Airi Suzuki, comment on the story and lines from the audience's perspective in the studio as the story progresses. It depicts the love story of Takumi (played by Joichiro Fujiwara), who still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend whom he dumped impulsively, Mei (played by Shiho Kato), Takumi's cunning ex-girlfriend, and Asahi (played by Maria Tani), who has feelings for Takumi whom she met at work.
During the studio talk that day, Kawatani revealed, "When I was a university student, I was suddenly dumped by a girl I was dating... I didn't even know why." At the time they were dating, he was in a band and had no success, so he was considering quitting the band and getting a job with the idea of a future with his partner, but he ended up being dumped.
A few years later, he made his major debut. "After I made my major debut, (that ex-girlfriend) contacted me on social media. She said, 'I didn't want to see you quit the band because of me. I broke up with you because I wanted you to continue,'" he said with a wry smile.
"It was so sudden. I was broken up with for no reason," she said, and she couldn't forget about that person. When asked about this episode, Suzuki grimaced and said, "I don't like people who contact me after I become famous!"
