It has been announced that the TV anime "Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho", based on the popular fantasy novel by Motoo Nakanishi, will be broadcast on TOKYO MX, MBS and other stations from March 31st. The first episode will be a one-hour special, and will be broadcast in two consecutive seasons. The series was postponed from its planned July 2024 broadcast.
It was also announced that TOC's solo project "Hilcrhyme" will be in charge of the ending theme "One Thousand and One Nights feat. Izumi Nakasone (HY)". Hilcrhyme and Izumi Nakasone of the band "HY" teamed up for this song, and TOC commented, "I wrote this song on the theme of 'Thousand Years of Love.' I was inspired by the way Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho weaves feelings across time. My good friend, Izumi Nakasone of HY, has once again teamed up with Hilcrhyme. She also wrote the lyrics and composed the music for this song, and her poetry and singing voice in her worldview make this song one of a kind. I hope it reaches many people across generations and distances. Please give it a listen."
The first PV was released on YouTube, showcasing a snippet of the song. The PV begins with a scene of the main characters Jinta, Suzune, and Shirayuki in their childhood. The residents of Kudzuno accept Jinta and Suzune, who were outsiders, and then Jinta grows up to become a shrine maiden guardian of "Itsukihime," while Shirayuki grows up to become "Itsukihime," a shrine maiden who calls herself Byakuya and prays for the prosperity of Kudzuno. The PV depicts the fleeting happiness of Jinta, Suzune, and Shirayuki (= Byakuya), as well as the three facing the long and unavoidable battle against demons.
"Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho" is a "Japanese-style epic" fantasy that tells the story of a demon who travels through the extraordinary time of about 170 years from the Edo period to the Heisei period. The novel is published by Futabasha. It has also been made into a comic book.
The anime will be directed by Kazuya Aiura and produced by Yokohama Animation Lab. Voice actors Taku Yashiro will play Jinta, Reina Ueda will play Jinta's sister Suzune, and Saori Hayami will play Shirayuki, the shrine maiden of Kuzuno, also known as "Hime Itsuki."
