It has been announced that the popular character "Sumikko Gurashi" has been appointed as the official support character for the special exhibition commemorating the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan Expo, "Japan, a Melting Pot of Beauty - A Path of Intercultural Exchange" (Kyoto National Museum), which will be held from April 19th to June 15th, and the special exhibition commemorating the 130th anniversary of the opening of Nara National Museum, "Super National Treasures - The Brilliance of Prayer" (Nara National Museum).
"Japan, a Melting Pot of Beauty - A History of Intercultural Exchange" introduces the treasures of Japanese art born from the exchange of art and culture from all over the world, past and present. The exhibition traces the history of intercultural exchange through approximately 200 cultural properties, including 18 national treasures and 53 important cultural properties, such as Katsushika Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji: The Great Wave off Kanagawa, paintings, sculptures, calligraphy, and crafts from the Yayoi and Kofun periods to the Meiji period.
"Super National Treasures - The Brilliance of Prayer" will introduce approximately 140 masterpieces, including about 110 national treasures and about 20 important cultural properties, such as the National Treasure "Standing Statue of Kannon Bodhisattva (Baekje Kannon)" at Horyuji Temple in Nara, the National Treasure "Seven-Branched Sword" at Isonokami Shrine, and the National Treasure "Kichijoten Statue" at Yakushiji Temple.
Collaboration goods such as "Tenori Plush Toys" and "Tenori Plush Toy Sets", a collaboration between Sumikko Gurashi and the exhibition, will also be sold.
