Actor Ryo Nishikido was announced on February 7th to be appearing in the film "Showtime Seven" (directed by Kazutaka Watanabe), in which he plays the role of a criminal. He plays Kanji Shigefuji, a man who commits a terrorist bombing and drives the protagonist, news anchor Shinnosuke Orimoto (played by Hiroshi Abe), into a corner.
The film is based on the Korean hit "Terror Live" (directed by Kim Byung-woo), and the screenplay was written by director Watanabe, known for the "Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe" series. A bomb is planted at a TV station, and the perpetrator, Shigefuji, appoints Orimoto, a former popular newscaster who has been demoted to a radio station, to negotiate with him. Orimoto sees the incident, which has attracted attention from all over Japan, as an opportunity to return to the news program "Showtime 7" from which he was forced to leave. He attempts an exclusive emergency live broadcast with the perpetrator, but his ambition is thwarted by the various traps set by Shigefuji, including an explosion in the studio... and so the story unfolds.
A new trailer featuring Shigefuji has also been released. It shows a scene where Orimoto and Shigefuji confront each other, and at the end, Orimoto is seen laughing and saying, "It's been a long time since I've been this excited!", while Shigefuji spits out, "You're crazy."
