An all-night screening of the third season of the TV anime "Re:Zero (Re:ZERO)" based on the light novel from MF Bunko J (KADOKAWA) was held on February 1st, and at a talk event before the screening, Yusuke Kobayashi , who plays Subaru Natsuki , Rie Takahashi , who plays Emilia , Satomi Arai , who plays Beatrice , and Chika Anzai, who plays Sirius Romanee-Conti, appeared. They talked about behind-the-scenes stories and the highlights of the "Counterattack Arc," the second part of the third season.
The screening included all eight episodes of the "Attack Arc" of the third season, which began airing in October 2024, as well as the first episode of the "Counterattack Arc." The "Attack Arc" also drew attention for the performance of Anzai-san, who plays Sirius, the Archbishop of Sin. Anzai-san revealed a behind-the-scenes story from the recording, saying, "There is a dog in the studio, and when I said, 'Wow, how cute,' I was told, 'Stop petting him with Sirius' voice!'"
During the recording of the scene where Sirius expresses his love for Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti, she said, "I thought I had to show my love for him (Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti), so I wore heart-patterned socks." She continued, "I was feeling excited because 'Today is love day~♪', but Yukke (Kobayashi) said to me, 'Is it your love for him? It's a turn-off.' I was like, 'Why are you turn-off?'" Arai further revealed, "Didn't you wear a sweater with a heart pattern? You wear something with hearts all the time."
They also talked about the first episode of "Counterattack Edition" which will be aired from February 5th, and Takahashi asked, "Isn't it packed with more than one episode's worth of content?" to which the other three agreed. Yasumi said, "Yes! How can I put it? It's like a makunouchi bento (laughs)." Arai said, "It felt like it was more than 30 minutes long," and Takahashi said, "People often say it feels like 5 minutes, but it's the opposite."
Kobayashi said, "Personally, I thought the beginning was stimulating in a different way. I wonder if it's a bit more stimulating on Blu-ray and DVD? Is that the case?" When asked by the PR staff at the event, they replied with a smile, "No." However, Anzai praised the introduction, saying, "I wonder if there was a story like this at the end of 'Assault'? This introduction is challenging!"
In her final remarks, Anzai said, "We are also happy that we can finally see the 'Counterattack'! I have actually seen a few episodes, and all I can say is that Reinhard is seriously cool! It's amazing! I think you will feel the excitement of the counterattack beginning in the first nine episodes, so please enjoy and share your excitement on social media etc."
Arai commented, "Will Bearko wake up? Will there be a highlight? I'm curious. Also, I'm really curious about the combination of Priscilla and Liliana. Please keep an eye on how they fight."
Takahashi said, "We'll be going until 4:30 (laughs). I hope you enjoy this night. And let's all enjoy the airing of the 'Counterattack' episode starting on February 5th."
Kobayashi said, "Today you will see episode 8 of 'Attack Arc' and episode 1 of 'Counterattack Arc'. Episode 1 of 'Attack Arc' is a 90-minute special, and there is also an episode that is 29 minutes and 30 seconds long (laughs). Please go into this screening with the expectation that it will probably have the volume of 12 episodes. And now the 'Counterattack Arc' is finally about to begin, but so far no clues have been found to defeat the Sin Archbishops. Will they face the Sin Archbishops with almost no plan, and how will it end? Everyone, please don't forget that this is 'Re:Zero'. I hope you will prepare yourself for the 'Counterattack Arc' with all your heart."
"Re:Zero" is based on a light novel written by Tappei Nagatsuki Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichiro Otsuka.
