TV Asahi's travelogue program "Secret Hot Spring Romance" (aired at 3am on the first and third Friday of every month, and also on the fourth week of months when there are five Fridays) introduces the charms of hot springs all over Japan that are known as "secret hot springs." On January 24th, the show will feature "Matsukawaya Nasu Kogen Hotel" in Nasu Yumoto Onsen, Tochigi Prefecture, "Yumori Tanakaya" in Oami Onsen, and "Oidekan" in Shiobara Motoyu Onsen.
The traveler is Akari Sato. At Matsukawaya Nasu Kogen Hotel, a facility exclusively for day-trip bathers, you can enjoy the open-air baths that take advantage of the high ground location. At Yumori Tanakaya, a long-established inn that has been in business for over 140 years, you can enjoy the rustic "open-air baths" in the valley and the inn's specialty "robatayaki".
At Oidekan, you can enjoy the pitch black "Sumi no Yu" hot springs, which contain iron, and the "Goshiki no Yu" hot springs, whose color changes depending on the temperature and weather of the day.
