To celebrate the release of the negative-scanned, HD-remastered Blu-ray Disc (BD) box set of Go Nagai's TV anime "UFO Robot Grendizer," it has been announced that the HD-remastered version of episode 25, "Flowers of Love Shining in the Sky," will be broadcast on TOKYO MX at 7pm on February 2nd. The popular episode depicts the tragedy of the main character, Duke Fleed, and his childhood friend, Naida, and was written by Mitsuru Umajima, directed by Guji Katsumata, and animation supervised by Shingo Araki.
"UFO Robot Grendizer" is the third installment in Nagai's "Mazinger" series, following "Mazinger Z" and "Great Mazinger." It depicts alien Duke Freed piloting the giant robot Grendizer to fight against oncoming evil. It was serialized in "TV Magazine" (Kodansha) from 1975 to 1976, and the TV anime aired from 1975 to 1977. Despite its long run of 74 episodes, the anime recorded an average audience rating of over 20%, and was popular around the world, including in Europe, the Middle East, and South America.
The Blu-ray box will consist of two volumes, with the first volume being released on February 12th and the second volume on October 8th.
