The new cast for the film "Under Ninja" (directed by Yuichi Fukuda, scheduled for release on January 24, 2025), based on the manga by Kengo Hanazawa, has been announced. Kenjiro Tsuda will voice the mysterious being "Under Ninja (UN)". Stills have also been released.
"Under Ninja" is a manga by Hanazawa, who is known for "I Am a Hero" and other works, and has been serialized in "Young Magazine" (Kodansha) since July 2018. The story is set in a world where ninjas, who are said to have disappeared after the war, are still active in the present day, and follows the story of a low-ranking ninja, Kuro Kumogakure, who lives a life almost like a NEET, as he throws himself into an important "ninja mission". It has also been broadcast as a TV anime.
In the film, Kento Yamazaki plays the main character Kuro and Hamabe Minami plays the heroine Noguchi Ayaka, and the script was written by director Fukuda, known for "Gintama" and "Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku."
Six new cast members have been announced, including Tsuda. Yamatoki Satoshi and Masaki Reiya will play Azuma and Noheji, two male students who are Kuro's classmates and bully Eita (Sakaguchi Ryotaro), while Nouchi Maru will play Sato, who carries a camera around looking for material. It has also been revealed that Maehara Ko will play Ozu, a member of "NIN" who backs up Kuro, and Mori Hinami will play Ozu's assistant.
The released stills include scenes of Kuro overpowering his enemies, going home with Noguchi, and a tense battle between ninjas. Also included are Yoshida (played by Jiro Sato) being criticized by editor Suzuki (played by Mai Shiraishi), and the comical exchanges between the ninjas gathered in Kuro's room.
