It has been announced that the TV anime "Summer Pockets", based on the romance adventure game by the game brand "Key" (Visual Arts), which also produced "Kanon", "AIR", and "CLANNAD", will begin airing in April 2025. Ahead of the broadcast, a creditless version of the opening (OP) video was released on YouTube. Following the game, the opening theme will be "Alcatel" sung by Suzuki Konomi. The work was the most popular romance adventure game of 2018, and the fact that it will be made into a TV anime about seven years after its release is also a hot topic.
Ayaka Hozumi, who was in charge of storyboarding and directing the opening video, commented, "'I never forgot how dazzling it was' When working on the opening, I wanted to cherish these words from the original game... that was the thought I had as I approached the film. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the director and all the staff who supported this opening, and to everyone at key/VISUAL ARTS for entrusting us with the song 'Alcatel', which is beloved by fans. I have packed as much of the charm of Summer Pockets as I could into it, so I would be so happy if people who watch it can enjoy it, even just a little. With love to everyone at Torihakujima...!"
It was also announced that a spin-off manga of the anime will be serialized in the manga magazine Dengeki Moeoh (KADOKAWA) and the manga site Kadocomi.
The game was originally conceived by Jun Maeda, and the scenario was written by Yu Niijima, Kai, and Hasama. The music was composed by Shinji Orito, Donmaru, Tomohiro Takeshita, Ryo Mizuki, and Shuhei Ohashi. The story is about Uyori Takahara, who comes to Torihaku Island during her summer vacation to sort out her late grandmother's belongings, and meets new friends on the island.
The anime will be directed by Kobayashi Tomoki, known for "Akame ga Kill!" and "Bokutachi no Remake", and produced by feel. Chiba Shoya as Shoya Chiba Hayari, Kobayashi Yoshimi as Konomi Kohara, Takamori Natsumi as Sorakado Ao, and Iwai Emiri as Tsumugi Wenders will all appear as they did in the game. Nene Hieda will play Kushima Kamome, replacing Mineuchi Tomomi, who has retired from voice acting.
