The 12th and final episode of the drama series "3-C-gumi wa Affair Shitteimasu" (Nippon TV, Tuesday midnight 12:24), starring the actor Riko, was broadcast on December 17th. The final scene of the episode depicts a class reunion for 3-C-gumi, and the appearance of Ao (Riko) and Iori (Kazuto Mokudai) there caused a stir on social media.
◇The following contains spoilers.
The final episode begins one month after Marin (Tanaka Miku) reveals everything. After everything comes to light, Ao and Kotone (Akita Shiori) are no longer in the classroom of Class 3C. Meanwhile, Iori heads to Tachibana Hospital, where he finds Kotone hospitalized. After being released from the hospital, Kotone tells Iori that she has decided to quit school, hands him divorce papers, and leaves. Meanwhile, Kyoko (Sakai Miki) visits Haruka (Kuninaka Ryoko) and tells her that she is divorcing Yutaka (Takezai Terunosuke).
Ao reunites with Iori, and while watching the meteor shower, he reveals his intention to transfer schools and study abroad. He then says, "I turned 18 and became an adult, but I wasn't yet an adult. Marriage and affairs were too early for us. So, when we become proper adults and meet again someday, let's talk about the rest then."
The story then depicts a scene in which Ao returns to Haruka's house after some time has passed. Haruka, wearing a ring on her left ring finger, is happy to see Ao back home and asks, "Where is he?" to which Ao replies, "I got some work all of a sudden. I was the only one who returned to Japan before him." Then, when Ao sees the glasses for both of them, Haruka tells him, "You said you wanted to see me, and I was waiting for you, but I just started a clinic for visiting doctors, so I'm still busy." Meanwhile, Iori is working as a doctor at the hospital where Kyoko is the chairman, and when Kyoko receives the documents from Iori, there is no ring on her left ring finger.
Later, Ao and Iori meet again at the reunion of Class 3C. Ao orders a beer at the counter, and Iori stands next to him. He says, "It's been a while." Ao replies, "It's been a while," and the two smile and look at each other. In the final scene, the rings on the ring fingers of both of their left hands are shining on the counter.
From Ao and Iori's rings, it can be inferred that they are both married, and from Ao and Haruka's conversation, it can be inferred that they are probably married to different people, but as this is not clearly depicted, comments were posted on social media such as, "Does that mean they are both married to different people?", "We are kept confused until the end", "Ao-chan's mom and Iori's dad are probably remarried. It feels like the two are step-brothers?" Also, from the scene at the end where they look at each other, comments such as, "Maybe those two will have another affair...", "Another affair?", "Does that ending make you think there will be a sequel?" and "Isn't this a flag for another affair to begin!" were posted, attracting much attention.
