On December 17th, Kazuya Kamenashi appeared with co-star Yosuke Kubozuka at the watch party celebrating the release of the DMM TV original drama "Gaiou no Uta" held in Tokyo. During the after-talk following the first episode, Kamenashi suddenly looked at Kubozuka next to him and praised him, saying, "Your hair has really grown. You're so handsome."
Upon hearing this comment, Kubozuka retorted with a laugh, "Now? (laughs) We've been meeting for a while now," and then he responded with a smile, "A handsome guy told me that," making the audience laugh.
When asked about the reaction to the drama, Kubozuka said with a smile, "There's been a tremendous reaction. People are saying Kame-chan is great, Kame-chan is great. That's why I'm in it too." Kamenashi said with a shy smile, "That's not true... It's weird to say that it's not true (in response)."
In response to the same question, Kamenashi happily replied, "My friends of the same gender and friends who like the original work have told me that it's really good and that they're hooked." He also expressed relief that the Kansai dialect he tried in this work was well received, saying, "I'm glad that people from Kansai also said it sounded natural."
The drama is based on Watanabe Daisuke's manga "Zenaku no Kuzu" (The Wicked Scum) and its sequel "Gedou no Uta" (The Song of the Outcast), which were serialized in "Young King" (Shonen Gahosha) from 2014 to 2023. Kamome Takeru (Kamo, Kubozuka) and Shimada Toranobu (Tora, Kamenashi), who run the seemingly ordinary, rundown, small second-hand bookshop Kamome, are secretly "revengers" who execute villains who have escaped justice on behalf of the families of victims who are burdened with unbearable grief. It has been streaming on DMM TV since December 6th.
